A little bit about me...
When I was young, I often thought about what I wanted to be when I grew up. Though many of my answers to that question changed over the years, the desire to become a teacher remained. In high school, I prayed about what I should pursue as a career, and that was when I knew I was called to teach. I wanted to actively make a difference in God’s Kingdom by telling others about Him, and I saw that I could do this through teaching. In order to follow this calling, I attended Regent University, where I took many courses that formed a foundation to build my career off of. In addition to pursuing a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Elementary Education K-6), I was also able to minor in Spanish, as I feel this is another area that I have been gifted in.
Because I have a passion for teaching children, I worked at Shining Lights Early Childhood Center throughout high school and college. Between working in a preschool, doing hours of practicum, and completing student teaching in multiple settings, I was able to see a wide variety of learners, from toddlers to ten-year-olds, and everywhere in between. During all of these experiences, I practiced my classroom management skills, experimented with many teaching techniques, collaborated with other educators, and I learned to adapt and differentiate lesson plans.
After graduating in December 2017, I was able to implement all of these skills. I was blessed with a full-time job at The King’s Christian School in Cherry Hill, NJ. I started off as a long-term substitute for a lively group of second graders, and I was able to remain their teacher until the end of the school year. The following year, I moved up to fourth grade at the same school. Then, I felt the call to teach at a school in Lancaster, PA. For the last two years, I have been the 5th and 6th grade Math and Science teacher for their University Model. It's been a joy to interact with such a wide variety of students in both settings, and I'm excited to see what the future holds!
I hope you enjoy my ePortfolio!
