My student teaching emphasized instruction that was student-centered and developmentally appropriate, showed a strong knowledge of the content being taught, required careful planning, assessed student understanding, and more!
Teachers must have a thorough understanding of what they teach, not just knowledge about the subject, in order for students to reach their own understanding of the concept. Then, teachers have to use this understanding to make connections between subjects. |
Knowledge about developmental differences is important, but it is useless if the teacher does not take the time to know each student. I really enjoy getting to know each student, and I have learned how to personalize my lessons based on what I know about the individuals in my class. In this lesson, the students created their own dinosaur skeleton and wrote a paragraph about their dinosaur.
